I offer you my warmest welcome and thanks for trusting in this part of your survival equipment...
This mini manual won't cover all emergency survival scenarios, but with your imagination its uses can easily surpass the ideas in this sheet... The main purpose is temporary survival shelter not a permanent structure... Please pay close attention to all safety messages on this page... If you're in an emergency situation, I send prayers for your safety... |
Fire & HeatThis shelter has been designed to absorb and trap warmth inside when it is set up near a fire. To utilize this, set the shelter up a safe distance from fire with the clear front flap facing the fire, close flaps, tuck edges in & stay warm by radiant heat...
Air activated heater pads are another source, as are the small fire tabs Fire minimum 4 feet from structure, keep fire as small as necessary... Larger fires require more fuel, more energy and a further distance from shelter. This shelter doesn't burn easily, but can cause issues if used improperly... |
When LostIts best when you find yourself misplaced not to just sit down
unless you need to get your head in order !!!"DON'T PANIC"!!! Search out good shelter area with wood and possible water source... Leave obvious signs for searchers to know your direction, arrows made from plant materials, rocks, scratches dirt, sand, or snow... If you have to move to a new location, mark your direction well so others can find you... |
Snow IceIf you're in snow/ice, build lean-to out of sticks/logs set
shelter on top... This shelter is strong enough to support weight, but must have structure to keep from caving in under loading... Once proper fire spacing built, one should be able to create a small green house effect trapping warmth from fire outside... It should melt ice inside shelter and probably become wet but warm... |
BeddingIt is best if you put plant material on the ground as
insulation so it doesn't suck the heat out of you or get you wet... I've found the best stuff in the region I live is the tips off low hanging evergreen branches, in other parts of the country, dried leaves, grass, and in others on sand... Even straight sticks lying close together work well if you clean the knots off and keep them tight together... Use your imagination... |
Solar StillIn desert region, shelter will reflect sunlight to stay cooler
in shade, remove clear front piece, use it for collecting water... Cut a piece of material from the corner and use it for a water catch if you don't have a cup... |
